5 Things

5 Things

First before I get to that. Em got a solo in her choir. YAY!!

We are proud. Also my goal planning with newboss and Mr. Principal didn’t go badly at all. I did talk with them about getting certified and they thought it was a great idea. I will not however go anywhere near the UofA MAT program. I’d rather eat hot vomit. With the exception of a couple of teachers that was just idiocy.

I’d also not get certified in English. Nope, it would be geekery. Apparently you can do that. As long as I could keep doing what I’m doing or actually teach networking or heck even pc troubleshooting and repair–that would be excellent. Like I said though, never ever going near the UofA education departement again.

Ok, five things I’d like to do before I die.

Go to Ireland. I am Scots Irish on my father’s side. The B’s were thrown out of Scotland into Ireland and then thrown back and thrown back again according to family folklore. I love the Irish language (I even attampted to learn it ) culture and music. I’d love to spend a summer or learning the language.

Get a home in Kauai. Well we’re dreaming here right? I loved Hawaii with J on our honeymoon. It was the first time I’d relaxed in ages. I loved how friendly and slow everthing was, how not driven by ambition , but by relationships–at least the folks we met.

I did one already–Go into a teaching program to become an English teacher. Whoa, that was a wrong turn but I’m surely glad I did it. It solidified that I love being around the school system and that I am not cut out to teach…English at anything other than maybe the beginning college level. I did ultimately find my niche in public ed though –I like what I’m doing now quite a bit…most of the time. You have to have an IT person on staff at school anymore.

Become more of a jock–enter a body building competition or run a marathon. That is once I can walk again . I really like lifting weights. When I can find the time to do it, it makes me feel good, strong and happy.

Go on a Buddhist weekend learning retreat. I think I’m headed slowly in the right direction but I’d like to test this out. And then I’d like to be someone who really works at it consistently.

Funny, this list would have looked different 10 years ago, even five. I wonder how it will look in 5 more years. Maybe I can mark one or two off. i’m not sure I’d have a long bucket list really–if I’ve wanted to do somthing, I’ve done…hoo boy have I. I could tell you some stories you might not believe about your genteel narrator…really. And that makes me proud.

Really now? I’d love to hear some of those!

I’ll have to think about my own bucket list and how it has changed, and what i have done on it.. Hmm… Good questions!
